The Charlotte Glasson Band has released 3 CD’s to great acclaim, ‘Charlotte’s World Wide Web,’‘Escapade,’ and ‘Travels with Charlotte Glasson.’ To buy a CD now go to Buy CD’S Page.
It’s a 5 piece band playing mainly original tunes by Charlotte inspired by gypsy jazz, ska, latin and world music. The band features Mark Bassey on trombone Jason Henson on guitar, Dave Holdsworth on tuba and pocket trumpet, and Sam Glasson on drums/percussion. They have recently returned form Ireland, where they recieved this rave review;
“Sax player Charlotte Glasson leads a five-piece instrumental band (with tuba instead of bass) who play a particularly uplifting blend of reggae, various jazz styles, klezmer and Latino. ‘Six Steps’ is an infectious foot-tapper and ‘Belly Up’ is full of Middle Eastern promise, with Jason Henson’s steamy guitar and Dan Hewson’s sizzling trombone fine foils for Glasson’s flute playing. ‘Patativa’ has exotic Latino rhythms underlying some playful instrumental work, with Glasson’s breathy flutings evoking memories of Roland Kirk and Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson. If you’ve ever wondered what smiles sound like, this is it.”

“A touch of the Hot Club De France, a hint of Coltrane, echoes of McKinney’s Cotton Pickers, a theme that comes could have come from the Jazz Messengers- all jazz history is there! Great fun”
